FAQs

What is Ultra Pure water?

Ultrapure water (UPW) is water that is purified to uncommonly stringent specifications. the water is treated to the highest levels of purity for all contaminant types, including: organic and inorganic compounds; dissolved and particulate matter; volatile and non-volatile, reactive and inert; hydrophilic and hydrophobic; and dissolved gases.

Why do you need Ulta pure water?

Ultrapure water does not contain any contaminants or impurities, both of which are present in average drinking water. The types of contaminants that are present in the water, and the amount, can depend on where the water is sourced from. The presence of impurities and contaminants will have a serious impact on your experiments. By ensuring you use water meets a high level of purity you eliminate any sabotage to your data and ensure reliable, accurate results.

What are the ways a person can get ultra pure water?

There are multiple processes in making of ultrapure water, The process begins with pretreatment activated carbon water filter then through a reverse osmosis water filter (RO), ion exchange (IX) or electrodionization (EDI) for reagent grade water, UV purification, again going through ion exchange (IX) and then finally through 0.2 micron point of use filter to get ultra pure water.

What is the difference between type I, Type II and Type III water?

Type III Water - Type III water can be used for any non critical works in the laboratory like Glassware Washing, Filling Autoclaves or feed to Ultra Pure Water Systems

Type II Water - Type II water is used in general laboratory applications such as buffers, microbiological culture media preparation, for preparation of reagents for chemical analysis etc; Can be used as feed to Type 1 water systems

Type I Water - Type I water is required for critical laboratory applications such as HPLC mobile phase preparation, blanks and sample dilution in GC, HPLC, AA, ICP-MS and other advanced analytical techniques; preparation of buffers and culture media for mammalian cell culture and IVF; production of reagents for molecular biology applications (DNA sequencing, PCR).

Can one interchangeably use different types of water?

No, As mentioned above, each quality of water does a specific work only, Ex: you may use Type 1 water for Type III water applications but not vice versa

How to choose a correct system?

Following basic parameters must be discussed with the technical sales specialist to arrive at correct system

Feed Water

Application

How much water is required per day

What are the consumables necessary ?

In any water Purification system Pretreatment Cartridge, Reverse Osmosis Cartridge, Deionisation Cartridge / EDI Cartrdige, Dual Wave length UV Lamp, Ultra Pure Cartridge, Ultra Filtration Cartridge, POU filter are the consumables present and each consumable is recommended to be replaced at specific intervals.

Can I use tap water as feed water?

Yes, Tap water if the water source is from the municipal supply can be used as feed water, If it is Ground water or any other source of water then additional pre filtration system must be installed before the system

How can I do the preventive maintenance?

The preventive maintenance schedule will be explained by our Service executive at the time of installation

Why is your system unique?

We have tried to design our system so that it meets all the international specifications of Laboratory water, tried to minimise the multiple units / consumables that may be required to get the final quality of water with out compromising on the customer’s requirements

How is the system different from drinking water systems?

These are Laboratory grade water purification systems specifically designed to be used only for Laboratory applications.
