The Copper Strip Tarnish Test evaluates the degree of corrosivity of a petroleum product by immersing a polished copper strip in a 30 mL sample at a controlled elevated temperature. After testing, the strip is inspected and rated according to the ASTM Copper Strip Corrosion Standard (1–4 classification).
This versatile Copper Strip Corrosion Test Bath is suitable for both sealed bomb testing (aviation fuel, turbine fuel, natural gasoline) and open test tube applications (diesel, fuel oil, kerosene, gasoline, lubricant).
Constructed from fully insulated, double-walled stainless steel, the bath maintains uniform temperature using a Soxhlet reflux condenser and constant water level device. It features microprocessor or analog temperature control, ensuring excellent stability and precise regulation across a wide operating range.
An optional test tube rack can be installed to extend the bath’s versatility for different sample types.
