The High Temperature Dropping Point Apparatus is a microprocessor-controlled analytical system designed for the determination of dropping points of lubricating greases at elevated temperatures up to 400°C (752°F).
Conforming to ASTM D2265, D4950, and related international standards, this apparatus uses a thermostatically controlled aluminium block oven with six-sample testing capability, ensuring precise, repeatable, and operator-independent testing.
The High Temperature Dropping Point Apparatus determines the temperature at which a grease sample transitions from a semi-solid to a liquid state using a constant-temperature aluminium block oven. Unlike conventional dropping point methods, the ASTM D2265 procedure permits higher test temperatures and eliminates operator-controlled heating, providing consistent and reliable results for high-performance lubricants.
The apparatus features a six-place aluminium block oven with large viewing ports and fluorescent back-lighting for excellent visibility. Microprocessor PID control ensures rapid temperature stabilization with minimal overshoot, while the over-temperature protection circuit interrupts power if the block exceeds the programmed cutoff.
Dual LED displays provide real-time actual and setpoint temperature readings in °C/°F, and optional communication software (RS232, ramp-to-set, and advanced features) enhances lab integration and automated data capture.
With chemical-resistant polyurethane finish, insulated cabinet, and precision dropping point assemblies, the system provides high-accuracy measurements with ±0.5°C stability, ideal for grease manufacturers, QA laboratories, and R&D facilities
