The Copper Strip Tarnish Test Apparatus is a precision-engineered system designed to measure the corrosive tendency of lubricating greases on copper surfaces under controlled temperature conditions.
Conforming to ASTM D4048 and FTM 791-5309 standards, this instrument provides uniform temperature control up to 190°C (374°F) in a 16-position bath, allowing for multiple simultaneous tests with exceptional accuracy and repeatability.
The Copper Strip Tarnish Test Apparatus evaluates the potential of lubricating greases to corrode copper under static elevated temperature conditions. In this method, a polished copper strip is immersed in a grease sample and maintained at a controlled temperature for a specified period. After testing, the copper strip is examined for tarnish or corrosion and rated against the ASTM Copper Strip Corrosion Standards (1 to 4 scale).
The instrument features a stainless steel constant temperature bath with a 16-test-tube capacity, capable of maintaining temperatures up to 190°C (374°F) with ±1°C stability. The bath medium can be water or a high-temperature heat transfer fluid, providing flexibility for various testing requirements.
The integrated heater and precise temperature controller ensure uniform heat distribution and stable operating conditions across all sample positions. The compact and robust design ensures durability, making it ideal for quality control, R&D, and routine lubricant testing laboratories.
