The Roll Stability Apparatus is a precision instrument designed for evaluating the shear stability of lubricating greases under controlled conditions. It performs tests in accordance with ASTM standards, rotating steel test cylinders at selectable speeds of 10 rpm or 165 rpm within a thermostatically controlled chamber.
The system operates at temperatures up to 200°F (93.3°C), with an optional high-temperature model extending the range to 320°F (160°C) for advanced testing requirements beyond ASTM D1831 specifications. A rugged ratio motor powers the drive system, and interchangeable chain sprockets allow easy conversion between operating speeds.
Advanced microprocessor PID temperature control ensures rapid heat-up and stable temperature maintenance without overshoot. Dual LED displays provide clear readings of both actual and setpoint temperatures in °C/°F format. For enhanced safety, an over-temperature protection system automatically cuts off power if the temperature exceeds preset limits.
Efficient heat distribution is achieved through a 1200W heater and a balanced cast aluminum fan, ensuring uniform thermal conditions throughout the chamber. A dial thermometer integrated into the hinged cover allows convenient monitoring of chamber temperature.
The apparatus is designed with operator safety in mind, featuring shielded heaters and drive mechanisms. The insulated steel cabinet and base are finished with a durable, chemical-resistant polyurethane enamel coating for long-term reliability. Optional features such as RS232 communication software and ramp-to-set temperature control are available for advanced laboratory applications.
