Lincoln Ventmeter for evaluating grease flow characteristics and determining optimal supply line size and length in centralized lubrication systems.
The Lincoln Ventmeter is a specialized instrument designed to simulate centralized lubrication systems and evaluate grease flow characteristics under controlled conditions. It is widely used to determine the appropriate supply line pipe size and maximum line length for efficient grease distribution.
The system consists of a 25-foot coiled tube equipped with two valves and a pressure gauge. Valve 1 is located at the pressure gauge end, while Valve 2 is positioned at the grease gun connection point. During operation, pressure is generated by the grease gun when Valve 1 is closed. Once the pressure stabilizes at 1800 psi, Valve 2 is opened instantly to allow venting. The pressure is then recorded after a 30-second venting period.
To ensure accuracy, the test is repeated three times, and the average reading is used to determine system parameters such as supply line size and maximum length. The Ventmeter allows testing under various temperature conditions, making it suitable for diverse application environments.
Standard testing is typically conducted at 0°F, 30°F, and 75°F. For non-ambient temperature conditions, the ventmeter filled with grease should be conditioned in a temperature chamber for at least four hours before testing. The same testing procedure is followed across all temperature ranges to maintain consistency and reliability.
