Crude oil vapor pressure is a critical parameter when transporting crude through different climate conditions and storage systems. Factors such as vapor-to-liquid ratio (V/L), storage temperature, and crude composition significantly affect vapor pressure, especially for live crude oils containing high amounts of volatile light ends. eravap for crude oil allows accurate simulation of real-world storage and transport conditions, including low V/L ratios found in rail cars, trucks, ships, and storage tanks.
The analyzer is the only vapor pressure tester on the market that can be equipped with the optional DENS4052 density meter module for simultaneous vapor pressure and density testing in one instrument. This integrated module is fully compliant with ASTM D4052 and ISO 12185, allowing users to measure crude oil density with excellent precision while performing vapor pressure analysis.
For volatile live crude oils, eravap supports pressurized sampling systems such as manual piston cylinders and floating piston cylinders compliant with ASTM D8009 and ASTM D3700. These systems help prevent the loss of volatile components during sampling, ensuring more accurate vapor pressure results.
eravap features advanced high-speed cell shaking technology with up to 4.3 shaking cycles per second. This superior shaking capability ensures faster thermodynamic equilibrium, improved repeatability, and highly precise vapor pressure measurements, especially for viscous crude oils.
The analyzer also supports special vapor-to-liquid ratio testing, including measurements at V/L = 0.02 and True Vapor Pressure (TVP) calculations. This makes it possible to simulate real transport conditions and evaluate crude oil behavior under different temperatures and storage environments.
For heavy crude oils and highly viscous samples, the optional High Viscosity Module heats the inlet, outlet, tubing, and sample transfer system up to 70 °C. This improves sample flow and ensures smooth and reliable measurement of difficult samples such as heavy crude oils and fuel oils.
