The BVS5000 is a redesigned programmable liquid bath system for high-precision viscosity testing. Sample cells are immersed in the bath for the entire soaking and testing period, removing the need for transferring samples between air and liquid baths. This design ensures consistent sample temperatures and eliminates inaccuracies caused by temperature rise during transfer.
The microprocessor PID controller can store up to 40 cooling/testing temperature profiles, replicating the sample cooling rates specified in ASTM D2983. The system maintains steady-state temperature accuracy and uniformity across the full operating range from ambient to -55°C. Efficient air-cooled hermetic compressors and CFC-free refrigerants provide reliable cooling performance.
Enhanced sample handling is achieved by repositioning the rotational viscometer mounting, allowing easier access to both samples and viscometer controls. The bath cabinet includes a front window with glare-free fluorescent lighting for distortion-free viewing. Built with polyester-epoxy finished steel and a chemical-resistant composite top, the unit is durable and easy to maintain. A removable insulated cover and adjustable leveling feet enhance operational convenience.
Safety features include a probe fault detection circuit in the primary temperature controller and a redundant latching controller with probe for additional temperature fault protection.
