The Saybolt and Saybolt Wax Chromometers are precision instruments for determining the Saybolt Color of highly refined petroleum products, fuels, and waxes. Conforming to ASTM D156, DIN 51411, FTM 791-101, NF M 07-003, these instruments provide accurate color measurement for product quality control, identification, and contamination detection. They accommodate liquid fuels and non-fluid waxes with integrated heating for wax samples.

The Saybolt Chromometer is designed to measure the color of refined petroleum products such as undyed motor and aviation gasolines, jet fuels, naphthas, kerosene, and petroleum waxes with ASTM Color 0.5 or lower. Color measurement is an important quality characteristic and is used to detect product contamination. The system compares a sample column against standard color discs under a uniform light source, providing a quantitative Saybolt Color value. A three-position turret allows easy switching between color disc combinations, and an optional daylight lamp ensures compliance with ASTM lighting standards.

The Saybolt Wax Chromometer extends the capability to non-fluid waxes by maintaining samples molten during testing. The instrument features heaters in the sample tube and draincock assembly to ensure uniform temperature and melt consistency. Optical viewers and sample stands are insulated from heat for safety and accuracy. Sample tube handles are heat-resistant for safe handling.

These instruments are suitable for samples ranging from clear to very dark, delivering repeatable and accurate color measurements for quality control, product verification, and contamination assessment in laboratory and industrial settings.
